He was a straightforward man, a drummer who marched to his own beat.ĭoug is survived by his daughter Toshia Peters (Christian Lemay) of Pasadena, California and his son Doug Peters, Jr. In his final month, this conviction provided him comfort. He was a man of strong Christian faith who contributed to many causes which served as guidance and support in his and others’ lives. Other pursuits included creating model train layouts, cross stitch, and setting up home theater systems. ![]() He was a pet lover, having a dog, cat or both most of his adult life. Locally, he navigated the Conococheague Creek, via raft and canoe, from Chambersburg to the Potomac River. Researching this history brought him much enjoyment. ![]() It was common practice for him to not only mow his own grass but also the lawns of neighbors.ĭoug was intrigued by the canal waterway systems in the region. Lawn care served as a relaxing counterbalance to the rigors of truck driving. Growing heirloom tomatoes and producing different sauces was another passion. He also enjoyed concocting gourmet dishes to share with family and friends. He continued playing drums recreationally throughout his life.ĭoug excelled at home brewing both beer and wine, long before the practice became popular. He also produced recordings for other local bands. Some of his pursuits included being a drummer during the 70's and early 80's for local country bands: The New Horizons and Majestics. He loved trying food during his travels like Cincinnati chili, beef sukiyaki and sopapillas.ĭoug was a music lover. He then visited much of the country during a truck driving career which spanned over 40 years, owning a semi rig for much of that time. In his teens, he attended Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA and graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High in 1966.įollowing high school, he was married and initially worked as a mechanic. He attended Paradise, a Catholic school for boys in Abbottstown, PA. He was born on Octoand lived in Franklin County, PA for the majority of his life. Peters, 74, of Marion, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on May 21, 2022. ![]()
